Lanning was never offered. It was Sexton working his magic. $30 Million buyout was never an option during NIL era. Byrne flew to Seattle Wednesday night after Saban retired. DeBoer was offered Thursday morning.

If Lanning was never offered because you knew you couldn't pay him, fair. Alabama, from what I've heard is closer to middle of the pack in NIL in the SEC than to the top three or four schools.

If Lanning was never offered because you didn't want him, you're stupid. What Lanning has done by year two in his head coaching career was more impressive than anyone else on your list of possible hires.

Disagree completely... Lanning has done well and is a good coach and may prove to be the better coach. Right now Deboer looks like the best bet. We won't know for several years. I am happy with our choice and Deboer obviously wanted the job, which is the most important criteria in any job search.

What we do know is this, NIL has completely changed the landscape of college football. Going to be much tougher for any team to be dominant moving forward.

Lanning is a good coach and I would have been ok with him but why is it stupid to go after the guy he couldn't beat and who made it to the natty while Lanning watched the playoffs on tv? Just because he came from Georgia doesn't mean Lanning is better than Deboer.

Lanning has never won a conference title, never made the CFP and never beat Kalen DeBoer.

What a stupid fricking comment to make.

What Lanning has done is more impressive than what DeBoer had done at UW?
The last 4 years Christobal was there, he went 35-10. Oregon wasn't a 4-win team when Lanning took over, they won 10 the year before Lanning got there. Also, Lanning had 3 opportunities to prove he was better than DeBoer. He failed all three times.

This is stupid. Even for a dog fan.

He’s 0-3 vs Deboer. Clearly more impressive
