1 - How does the flex scheduling work? My personal wish is that ALL teams play the same # of opponents & finish the rotation at the same time.

2 - The only issues I know with pods is:
A - Their breakdown
B - Keeping ALL YEARLY rivalries between teams not in the same pod.

The puzzle aspect makes it an interesting discussion for me as well.

I will throw this in. LSU vs Alabama has been the most valuable regular season game over the past decade plus for ESPN/CBS. I firmly believe that is a game that ESPN will demand stays annual. With that, LSU-Alabama is a permanent.

LSU would have Ole Miss, A&M and Alabama.
Alabama would have Auburn, Tennessee and LSU - you know, the three teams they actually sing about during their games.

Then the difficulty comes in the rivalry weekend, because all of LSU's permanent opponents have rivalry weekend games. I propose we set up a rotation with Arkansas, OU, Mizz and LSU.

Year 1: Arky-Missouri, LSU-OU
Year 2: Arky-LSU, Missouri-OU

Pods could work with an 8 game schedule:

8 game schedule
Play your pod (3)
Play another pod (4)
Play 1 Perm (1)

They don't work as good with a 9 game schedule unless you want 5 perms (pod + 2). A 3/6 is better at that point imo.

Example Pods

Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky

LSU
Arkansas or Texas A&M
Ole Miss
Miss State

Texas
Oklahoma
Texas A&M or Arkansas
Missouri

Figuring out the Perm's from there is a little bit difficult. As an example, who do you match Oklahoma with? Maybe Tennessee? Bottom line, it can be done.
