NIL is always a draw. No argument. But so is development. Saban and his coaching staff provided the development and initial contract inn the NFL. Once in the NFL there are no guarantees. Average life span of an NFL player is something like 4 years...maybe less. If you can get drafted in the first and maybe second round you can be fixed for life. Alabama/Saban provided an opportunity to make that initial splash as an early round draft pick, and if you managed to do well enough to last 7-8 years get even bigger contracts.

Besides. The money is still there, so....

The majority of players at Alabama take a lower NIL deal in order to play at Alabama.

There is a positive tradeoff to being coached under Saban and competing against the best in practice every day.

Remove Saban (or Kirby) and the reason for the paycut is no longer valid.

Every single player on the roster now has a new number. Sometimes, Bama will pony up. Sometimes, another school will be able to offer something that money can't buy (like Saban has done the past decade plus).
