Saban often sacrificed coaching for recruiting. I don’t think that’s debatable. And the last few years he seems to have had a harder time filling vacancies. I think what he alluded to about coaches and players wanting assurances about longevity came into play.

Why can’t we have both? Keep a lot on this team until the west coast coaches make southern ties and keep the top ten classes coming. The recruiting guy DeBoer brought with him is really good.
