I would take him at his word on this.
With the whole world asking him about when, speculating when, recruits asking, etc. there’s little doubt he had thought about it. But as mentioned earlier, he actually interviewed a DC position opening the day before.
When asked in November, his response was, “what would I do?” He always mentioned being a part of a team, insinuating he would be lost without that concept in his life.
It’s done. I appreciate his contribution and his legacy!
