Saban should've made a deal with a great DC or OC or head coach to work as his DC or OC to come in for this past season with the understanding he'd retire at the end of the season. I think that would've made a better transition and helped with roster management. While I think DeBoer is a great offensive coach, I feel the move to him was more about him having Sexton as his agent than it should've been.

You are assuming Saban knew he was retiring before the season began.
By his own admission, he was torn between staying or retiring five minutes before the final team meeting.
