So why would you go back and look at all that if this wasn’t that big of a deal to you? You’ve been posting in many of these Baker threads and don’t really come across as a “friendly banter” kind of guy. You’ve made several snide remarks, in fact. Perhaps you are friendly, I really haven’t noticed your posts before today because our teams never really went back and forth like this very much in the past. In aggregate today, you come across as a someone who’s been scorned.

First time that’s happened on the Rant. My sincere apologies.

Not especially.

I think the template on the Rant is that if you’re posting about something, it’s because you’re mad. That’s not how real life works. At least not for me. You might want to recalibrate your assessment abilities.

You are usually a pretty even keeled, level headed poster on here. But you have lost your shite the last twelve hours over this Baker hire. He may end up being the greatest coach ever. But at this point he has spent 5 years as a coach at major programs; 2 years as Miami’s DC/safeties coach; 1 year as LSU’s LB coach, and 2 years as Mizzou’s DC/LB coach.

As DC at Miami in 2019 he gave up 42 to Virginia Tech (a loss) and 30 to Florida International (a Miami loss… to FIU).

As DC at Miami in 2020 he gave up 42 to Clemson (a loss), 41 to NC State (a win), 62 to North Carolina (a loss), and 37 to Oklahoma State (a loss).

As DC at Mizzou in 2022 he gave up 40 to Kansas State (a loss) and 66 to Tennessee (a loss)

This year as DC at Mizzou he gave up 42 to LSU (a loss) and 30 to Florida (a win).

I just don’t understand how THAT resume gets a guy to be the highest paid assistant in the history of college football to date. In four seasons as a DC he has gave up more than 60 points twice and more than 40 points seven times. He may be great. He may end up being the greatest. But just based on resume, I can not understand the celebration going on right now.
