Portal and nil is probably getting to him and many college coaches

I've said it here a bunch, but I've heard him speak on both many times, and this will be why he eventually retires, IMO.

Not sure if that's today or five years from now, but every coach will tell you it's just not the same game anymore.

He hates someone having to give an 18-year-old kid a "reward" for showing up instead of making him earn it on the field — just how these old-school guys are wired.

I can totally see that happening. Saban is the best to ever do it but man the game is practically not even the same as it was even 10 years ago. At some point he's going to look in the mirror as a 70-something year old and ask wtf the point is anymore. You have to re-recruit your entire roster every season and deal with 17 year old high schoolers demanding more money than AU or LSU will pay them. It's gotta be exhausting.

I think we all know there are fewer years ahead of Saban in coaching than behind him...far fewer. I tend to think 2026 is going to be his final season as the head coach. Alabama plays @WVU in the season opener in 2026. That is a nice way to start a last hurrah season: playing in your home state to start the season. So, 3 more seasons is my bet.

Well look how many elite College Basketball Coaches decided I am not dealing with NIL and Portal. That is why Coach K at Duke and Williams at UNC retired.

We are only talking about 13 Scholarship players to deal with, with football 85.

He doesn’t mind being gifted a playoff berth though.
