Just going to throw this out there from a guy that is a pretty big donor each year to see if anyone else has heard the same.

The QB battle last year came down to Milroe winning the team with his leadership and intangibles. Him taking the WRs to Florida and spending time with them put them firmly behind him. Simpson spent pretty much no time working with his teammates, but rather working on himself. Simpson was also somewhat immature, and when he would make a mistake in practice, he would over compensate and couldn't just move on. Buchner really did neither, but came in with an attitude that he would win the starting spot, even though he was only told he would have a chance to compete, so he never got any support from his teammates. He didn't make the mistakes in practice Simpson did, and that put him ahead. Milroe had half the team ready to run through a wall for him, so that gave him the start spot. Buchner not caring to develop any chemistry with his teammates was a large reason for the lack of effort from anyone when we played USF. It was also why the effort increased with Simpson in the game, because quite a few players did not care for Buchner at all.

He said Simpson realized what happened and how it happened and took a smart route. The entire year he has spent time developing relationships with the second string, primarily Hale, Miller, Hayes, Alilen, McVay, Formby, Young etc, and has spent a lot more time hanging out with a lot more players this year.

He thinks there will be a QB battle in the spring, because Milroe is losing a lot of the guys who were really behind him to graduation and the draft and with one of Saban's big focuses being winning the team, Ty has made that a lot closer already. Not saying he will overtake Jalen, just that Ty has been much smarter with his approach and stopped making it so much about improving just himself, and that Ty has closed the gap significantly with the team.

Has anyone else heard similar?

On a separate note, he didn't mention anything about the players moms.

No, but it is definitely believable, and kind of echoes what we have heard and seen over the last year.

Not that kind of detail, but similar stories

In scrimmages you could tell he would press after making a mistake. He would force balls, and was a turnover waiting to happen. Once it started going down hill in the few I saw, he basically could never get the offense going again. Lonergan along with Buchner going into the season seemed to have the most command of the offense when it came to executing with consistency. Milroe was definitely ahead of everyone coming out of fall camp IMO.

Buchner looked serviceable, but nothing wowed you, you could tell he did not have the talent of the other guys

No question it is possible, that we might have more guys look to transfer after we see how everyone has improved. I think Milroe had a decided edge coming out of fall practice, but guessing that has narrowed for sure now.
