Was Downs foot actually touching out of bounds?

I lean more to his heal actually touching than not.
When I look at the video of him backing up prior, he is backing up on his toes and his heal doesnt touch the ground. Also, the view with the heal out of bounds, the show as an unnatural look as though its not flat on the ground.
I know the ref through his hat, but that was for the michigan player that went out.

Clearly oob at the 1:41 mark. Did not reestablish before touching the ball. It was the right call.

I agree with you. It looked like his heal never touched.
I didn't know the hat was thrown for the Michigan player... but then why would it have been eligible for review?

I believed he was on his toes but there wasn't enough to override that call. That would have been HUGE but Bama covers 4th/2 and it's ball game

It's close, but I'd have to say he was OOB.

Not sure it had a huge impact. UM punts, we punt back and they muff the punt and we recover.

I feel like if we pick off Michigan on the first play of the game and are able to score a TD we win the game.

That angle does but if you watch the previous view like 10sec before the way he is backing up on his toes.
