The play that screwed Georgia and propelled Bama to an unearned CFP berth

It was late in the 2nd quarter of the SEC Championship game. Bama had a 10-7 lead and was facing 4th-and-4 from the Georgia 37 with over a minute and a half left in the first half. Milroe threw a pass to Isaiah Bond. This was the result…
The call on the field was complete pass and 1st down Alabama. Inexplicably the play was not reviewed. Two plays later, Alabama scores a touch to take a 17-7 lead into the half. Had the play been reviewed, the booth would have seen the ball hit the ground and assisted the receiver in gaining possession of the ball, thus it was a textbook example of an incomplete pass. Georgia would have had the ball on its own 37 yard line 1st & 10 with about 1:25 on the clock to work with.
But they never got that chance. Instead the touchdown that resulted two plays later helped Alabama win the game by 3 points. The playoff committee used this win to throw Georgia out of the top four, along with undefeated ACC Champion Florida State, and replace them both with Alabama and Texas. The CFP fates of four teams were decided by this blown call all because a routine play that in another game involving any other team would be reviewed as SOP. But not on the SEC when Alabama is playing.

Curious you only show ONE still shot of it, and not the whole thing in motion up close.

This didn’t happen, by the way. He had possession before he ever touched the ground and maintained possession through the catch.

Motion hurts the Bama argument. The ball moved after contact with the ground. It is obviously your basic trap.

With no hands on the ball?

You posting that meme over and over is your coping to keep from admitting you know Bama was gifted a CFP berth illegitimately, got manhandled by Michigan, and sent packing.

That’s the one shot that counts. It’s the shot that shows the ball on the hounds and he doesn’t have it in his hands. You do realize that a receiver has to maintain catch all the way to the ground, right? And if he loses control of the ball or the ground assists him in controlling the ball, it’s an incomplete pass. You understand all this, right?

It’s you. It’s your entire fanbase. You people have experienced more pain this year than you have in decades, and I fricking love it.

The picture I posted shows you to be wrong.
The only question is are you willfully lying or are you that ignorant of basic football rules and are unaware of the fact a receiver has to maintain full possession of the ball all the way to the ground?

The ball barely touching the ground doesn’t make it an incomplete pass. The ball was clearly being braced by both of his arms and moved when his left elbow hit the ground. The ball was still under control at that moment and moved with his arm, not because the ball touched the ground. The ball was fully possessed at the time of your screenshot.
Go watch the replay.

That perfectly describes a trap.

No it doesn’t. A trap is when the ball is secured because it touches the ground. That’s not the case here. The ball was secured prior to it ever touching the ground. The player’s left elbow hitting the ground is what causes the ball to roll - in conjunction with his arm, and was never not being fully controlled. The ground did not assist the catch.

How did you enjoy the game yesterday my friend?

Auburn could have prevented this entire fiasco by holding on for one more play...
