Why does Texas deserve it over uga?
They lost to Oklahoma
Criteria from CFP Selection Committee Protocol (LINK )
quote:
The selection committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
* Conference championships won,
* Strength of schedule,
* Head-to-head competition,
* Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
* Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.
Criteria #1: Conference championships won
Texas won a conference title; UGA did not.
Criteria #2: Strength of schedule
Texas #2; UGA #45
Criteria #3: Head-to-head competition
N/A
Criteria #4: Comparative outcomes of common opponents
Texas defeated Alabama; Georgia lost to Alabama
Criteria #5: Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance
Could write up some stuff for each but ultimately a wash. Each have injuries during the season and banged up players heading into the playoffs. It is a long season in a full contact sport, nobody is 100% healthy.
So, yeah, it is pretty obvious why they didn't make the field over Texas.

But there's the problem... They haven't followed these rules in the past. Why start now? Just face it, Texas is the make a wish kid in the playoffs. Your quality of losses is bad... Your conference is arse. They expected UGA to be in, but bama spoiled it all.

Can anyone really call the Big 12 a conference?
