I hope Greg Byrne is still here when all this goes down. I also hope Saban gives him a season long heads up and steps down after signing day so that there is no recruiting hiccup.
Passing along the best roster in college football will help. As of right now today, one can still argue we have that.
I would develop a list of the best 5 coaches in the world, college or pro, and start at the top.
Go for the best, just like with Saban. Don't talk ourselves out of anyone as being "out of reach".
I think we have at least 3 years. Maybe by then Dabo has adapted and come back strong. Maybe Kiffin has continued to improve.
The most important thing is, don't be so arrogant as to think that, at Alabama, we don't need a great coach to win. It was that sort of arrogance that cost us 20 years of championship contention.
We could have had Schnellenber at his prime at Miami. We could have had Bobby Bowden at his best, with 12 years of dominance left. and we hired a mediocre Bill Curry because we thought that Bama will win regardless of coaching.
Imo Bama has earned the right to be called the most professional, attractive destination in College Football, possibly in football. Not only did we get Saban, but we gave him everything he asked for. We gave him a blank check and the freedom to build an empire.
We have to go for the best. Kiffen, Dabo, Kirby(more time at Bama than Georgia), Sarc... I don't care who they are, we can get them.
