With the playoff games being in bowls does it increase a team's bowl count?

Just wondering since the cfp games are being played in bowls does this increase a team's bowl count?

If so Bama's has increased most years by 2.

The semi-finals have counted in the 4 team system, the championship game has not i don’t think. As far as the 12 team I assume the quarter finals and semi finals will both count since they’ll be at bowl sites, at least for the first two years.

The CFB playoff games are counted officially as bowls. When you win a playoff game you win that bowl game which also earns you a trip to the National Title game.

So if we beat Michigan we get a Rose Bowl win and the Rose Bowl trophy. Always been that way.

So the L against Ohio State in the playoffs back in 2014 counts as a Sugar Bowl loss. The W against Notre Dame in 2020 counts as a Rose Bowl win(even though it was in Dallas).

The Clemson playoff W in 2017 counts as a Sugar Bowl win. We have the Sugar Bowl trophy sitting in our trophy case.

The BCS system made it confusinng because the BCS National title game counted as that bowl game technically and then some years it was doubled up. For instance Alabama played Texas in the Rose Bowl but it wasn't the Rose Bowl officially. It was the BCS National Tite game played in the Rose Bowl. The actual Rose Bowl was Ohio State vs Oregon that year.

The CFP National Championship Game is not a bowl game. The BCS National Championship Game was a bowl game.

The CFP National Championship Game should not count as a bowl game.

Next year the quarterfinals and semifinals will officially be bowl games. The CFP National Championship Game will not.

Maybe you think it shouldn't but it does. How could it not?

Because it's not a bowl game and played outside the bowl system.

The BCS National Championship Game was played within the bowl system.

Don't know what to tell you but if you look at any site that lists bowl records anywhere those games are counted in the official totals. They have been from the start.

I quite understand that it is counted, I'm challenging the legitimacy of the CFP National Championship Game being counted as a bowl game. The game is counted as a bowl game simply because no one knows exactly what to call it.

In my book, it's a post season game. The game is played outside the traditional norm of FBS. After the regular season games, championship games and bowl games.

Not really related, because FCS never used a bowl system, but the FCS playoffs are not refered to as bowl games.
