There was a thread on an FSU board that brought up a pretty simple point, what's going to happen if people get so apathetic that they stop spending money as a fan? Tickets, hotel rooms, travel, merchandise, some fans and boosters might get so fed up with players jumping from team to team that they might just say the hell with it when it comes to donating money towards an NIL for a player that's only going to stay one year. We've got projected starters getting on social media saying they're entering the portal just to hold out for more money. I don't want to act like the sky is falling, but it kinda is. It's not "college football" if it has absolutely nothing to do with the college part.

Eventually the average fan will realize there are 18-22 yr olds that are backups on the sideline making more money than they do

It hasn’t been CFB for a long time. But, as long as people’s self-worth hinges on a 19 year old contractor scoring with their school’s logo on his helmet, it will survive just fine.
