It had everything to do with the Longhorns.

If they lose next year, the narrative is well what did you expect with a new coaching in breaking in his system and getting his players into the program.

If they fired Jimbo after he lost to the Longhorns then the narrative is that UT ended the Aggie coach.

One is better than the other for public perception.

All of this is true, and to add to it the aggy AD made a bfd out of insisting the first game be at their house in spite of the fact Collie Station was also where we had our last game against them..Sankey threw them a bone on that one. Of course by doing so they unwittingly made that a must win game..and now they have an excuse for coming up short. (I could have made a Jimbo joke with that last part, but nah)
