This is the correct and reasonable take. It’s likely Kirby will build and maintain a true dynasty, but Georgia fans are finding out how hard it is to accomplish what Saban has done at Bama. Getting to the mountaintop is difficult, doing it two years in a row is hard as fvck, but staying at or near the top for 16 straight years is damn near impossible (and I don’t believe Saban is finished yet). It may never be done again.

To add to this, I will be curious to see what a "dynasty" looks like in the era of the 12 team playoff. That extra game or two, NIL seemingly creating a bit more parity, plus harder regular season schedules adds more variability to the mix.

Good points. The college football landscape is changing before our eyes. Will be interesting to see how it looks in as few as five years from now. Saban has adapted to change as well or better than any coach. We’ll see who can do it over time after he’s gone.

I am not so sure. I think that the same teams that win a conference championship and 2 bopwl games to win a natty will do the same things most years in a 12 team playoff. Most years there will be 1 or 2 actually capable of winning in a 4 team or 104 team playoff. There will be an outlier here and there where a team gets a player back or something and goes on a run and wins a natty but most years it will be the same as it always has been.
