Saban has had an unbelievable run. That’s pretty obvious. If he wins the national title, he has the program right back on track.
But if he falls short (loses to Michigan or Texas), it’s also true the program has declined a bit from their peak (2009-2017). One national title in six seasons would certainly be a step down.
There’s truth in that Bama is still a top program and also not quite where they used to be. Both can be true at the same time.
