That'd be a better result. He wasted NIL funds and a roster spot.
I guess it's telling that if it takes extra incentives beyond NIL funds agreed to on outset for a player to actually play then it'd be best if he wasn't on the team.
I swear. People on here need to take a basic economics class.
How many college football teams want to be the best?
Honestly. Give me a number.
In order to be the best, you need the best players.
How many football teams are competing over the same players?
Only one team wins each player. Literally, 100% of the players bought are "overpaid".
You. Cannot. Avoid. It.
Not if you are one of the college teams that wants to be the best (there can only be 1 every year).
UGA and Bama have figured out the secret.
You cannot overpay for 22 starting positions.
So you don't even bid on those players unless you are backed in a corner (i.e. recruiting misses the previous 2 classes).
Bama and Georgia spend "the bid money" on player retention.
Stetson Bennett won a natty? Pay him like a Natty winner for year 2.
Nolan Smith has developed into a future 1st rounder. Pay him like a future 1st rounder for his junior year.
How does this info help Scar? It doesn't.
You can't sell NFL contracts the way that Bama and UGA can.
If you want to be the best, you have to go the Texas route. The A&M route. And hope that you have the coaching staff who can make lemonade out of lemons in year 3 (note: jimbo only got 2 years before he got canned).

You're arguing that it's better to pay Player A for a year where he voluntarily does not play rather than pay for another Player who might contribute on the field. If NIL dollars aren't spent toward production then yes that is the definition of waste. Basic Economics.
How dumb is your logic

All players are bought now. So by your logic all 22 players are overpaid whether they be on Bama, GA., or any other team

This is a crazy statement.
UGA/Bama/Ohio State/Michigan and a few others are exempt for this all. Yes they still buy and pay players but...
kids will stay there because those schools put kids in the league. No where else that those kids go will there be more eyes on them.
those schools were good before NIL. For all the rest of us, we just have to accept that kids are coming to transfer in only to transfer out.
