Alabama, LSU, and (to an extent) Auburn all took the latter half of the 90's off, and Arkansas and Mississippi State managed to take advantage, win the West and get to Atlanta.

Tennessee, Florida, and (to an extent) Georgia all took the first half of the 10's off, and Missouri and South Carolina managed to take advantage, win the East and get to Atlanta.

Sad, those programs who failed to strike when the iron was hot. It gets way, way harder to make the SECCG now.

In the 90's Arkansas only went to Atlanta once (1995). Went two times after 2000. So no, not really what you said.
