I'm sure, if you think about it, you can figure it out. If you know, you know.

This is still unclear. Took miracles in other games for it to be the case in 2021. But none of that changes that 2021 worked out for UGA.
What? Everyone knew UGA was in before the game was even played, as Cheer mentioned. Are you even a UGA fan or just an alter?

All of which, possibly, can be gleamed from crossover data such as this. Obviously, final scores mean less than actual game stats and observation data from game films, but this is a starting point to a conversation.
The interesting thing I've seen develop over the course of the season is UGA is not quite as hardened in the middle against the run as the past two seasons. Understandable, I see what their boys are doing on defense for the Eagles and others in the NFL. They're not a bad run defense but you can run the ball on them with good scheme.
Alabama has developed into a pretty good running team too. A lot of it is getting the QB involved in the run game but the OL is doing well at reestablishing the LOS upfield rather than getting stalemated, beaten, or put on skates.
I think this is the key to the game. If Alabama can get the tailbacks going for 4 yard runs, Georgia will man up the receivers, and Milroe can start unleashing the dragon.
That's my "well you're saying there is a chance" analysis for Alabama. Vegas thinks it is a 31-27 type UGA win and that seems right to me.

That game was a "must win" for one team only: Bama. I don't think Kirby lost the game on purpose, though, before anyone brings that shite up. I just think Kirby failed to convince his team that it could be beat.
That wild, considering he is known for his motivational ability.

Solid post.
I, too, think that THE matchup is your ability to establish the run, or lack there of. I think UGA will score. Not at will, but enough, if Alabama can't slow them down by controlling the possessions.

Based on what happened in the NC game that year and it being an SECCG against a Bama team that Kirby hadn’t beaten, I don’t think motivation was the issue. Bama with healthy wide receivers was clearly better than UGA. Bama without them clearly was not. Injuries happen in sports all the time, and sometimes the healthiest team at the end is the one left standing.
2022 Braves pitching injuries sucked, and not having Charlie Morton this year hurt as well (although not sure he would have made a difference)

I apologize. Seems that I've allowed this thread to evolve into a discussion of the 2021 season by engaging in a post involving elements of that season.
Let's bring it back, in focus, to this season. Those guys are, mostly, in the NFL, UGA has back-to-back natties, and we are living in 2023 with players who want to make the playoffs on both squads.

Or we could talk about next season, in which this game would have little consequence other than the winner likely getting a bye, and the loser likely getting a home playoff game. It’s wild how different the consequences will be for the game on Saturday vs. future seasons.

Be thankful for all of the key uga guys out while your wrs were healthy, or you wouldn’t even be able to make that first statement

I wish that mean something. But it doesn't, unfortunately.

At risk of derailing again, UGA fans keep saying this…with literally nothing to base it on. No one knows what happens if both teams were fully healthy, or if the missing UGA players were enough to make up the large gap shown in the SECCG and first quarter of the NC (not to mention the other missing Bama starters…think one was a star defender). Everyone knows what happens based on my statement…we literally had almost 100 minutes of football that proved it in front of the whole country.
Guess UGA fans just got so used to living in hypotheticals and hopes/dreams from 1980-2020 that they forgot the game has to be played on the field, not on paper. Otherwise, why even play on Sat?

Making safe assumptions. Using your logic. Big players being out makes it hard. It changes outcomes. You know this.

Is this you acknowledging that uga had key guys out or hurt? Some bama fans won’t do that, so we need clarification.

Don’t exaggerate. We know there was a flukey 17 minutes in game 1 where bama somehow scored 31. Before and after, not much of a difference, and that includes part of game 2.

We also no definitively by the same logic Alabama would never beat Texas A&M

UGA/Bama played both on a “neutral” field (as neutral as Atlanta can be, I guess). No, we actually don’t KNOW what would happen if Bama/A&M met on a neutral field in 2021. Although if I’m using UGA’s hypothetical logic, Bama clearly would win that given how close the road game was. Your statement made NO sense.

I for one find it to be informative and helpful

Transitive property doesn't work in football, otherwise gambling would be much easier.

Flukes happen, but most Bama fans like to think it’s impossible for a rematch to go very differently than the original. Totally hypocritical though.

That’s the thing, the rematch did happen and was going the exact same direction as the first. Even with the injury that changed the game, the vaunted UGA defense was a “3rd string WR who got processed after the season” drop away from losing a 2nd time. That’s not a fluke, no matter how much UGA wants to think it was. That’s called getting outcoached and outplayed, but getting positive injury luck. Bama has had that go our way at times, but that one went against us. It happens.
