We don’t need a “classic” close loss that only drops the loser to no.5 in the CFP.

Why?

They aren't putting the loser between either of these teams ahead of us if we beat Georgia.

They would be 11-1 without a conference title.

UGA would also be a one loss conference loser. Are they completely out if Bama beats them?

The loser of this game is not getting in over a 1 loss Bama. Relax.

Probably.

Unless complete chaos happens next weekend this would be your CFP:

Ohio State/Michigan winner
Oregon/Washington winner
Alabama
Texas

Florida State still has a shot, but without Jordan Travis I don't see them beating both Florida and Louisville on the road.

More than likely yes. But a lot can happen in the next week.

Neither can blow the other out.

Neither is good enough.

True, but it will be spun as two “outstanding defenses”.

Announcers said this is basically a playoff game.

Devaluing the implications of games like this is my primary concern with the expansion to a 12 team playoff.

Why? Simple. No one can predict with 100% certainty what this committee will do. They shouldn't have Oregon ahead of Texas, and yet they do.

The loser cannot win their conference, so I don’t think the loser can get back in this year.

I think FSU can beat Florida and Louisville with the backup
