If we beat Auburn and Georgia, and then beat a team of the quality of a Texas or FSU, Washington or Michigan in the bowl, then MOST PEOPLE, will pretty much know we are the best team in the country.

See, it's like this.

1. Over the last 15 years, most of the time, the SEC has dominated the playoffs.

2. The SEC has won the championship the last four years in row.

3. The SEC dominates the draft and therefore has dominant talent.

So considering all that. If the committee is unwise enough to omit the champion of the Dominant League then the legitimacy of the playoff will be in question. After all the games are played, despite all the silly "who's in" debates, most will look at the Dominant SEC team and acknowledge that, "Hey, they probably would have won it."

The end result will be an inconclusive season where many, perhaps the majority of people will recognize Bama as the best team.

I would go further and suggest that, a very close loss by Georgia in the SEC championship should necessitate that both Georgia and Bama get in.
A two time champion Georgia with a 1 point loss and a 12-1 record would be one of the two favorites to win it all.

I agree with your post, but this is way understated.

In the 4 team playoff era, the SEC has utterly dominated.

Just at a quick glance, the conference is 15-6 with two of those losses coming to another SEC team.

No other conference has 15 games, much less 15 wins and the only other conference with a winning record is the ACC at 6-4.

Whomever wins the SECCG absolutely deserves to get in and if/when they do be it Alabama or Georgia, I'm very confident they'll win the whole thing again.

If we beat Georgia, go 12-1, win the sec and somehow don’t get in I’d be honestly enraged over the incompetence of the committee but ultimately I’m with you. I’d still be supremely satisfied beating bowl cut in ATL.

We’ve held up a ton of trophies. Beating that puppy dog arse is what I want to see more than anything at this point.

Regardless we’re getting in if we beat UGA. I don’t care if they have to leave out an unbeaten FSU or a 12-1 Oregon. We’re getting in.

Have trust. They can’t leave out a team that has the wins we will have if we beat AU and UGA.

And that dominance is going to get worse.

Couldnt disagree more. Its a "history written by the victors" issue for me.

In 50 years nobody will remember that georgia got stomped into oblivion in the seccg, and got a mulligan and then barely went on to beat a Bama team destroyed by injuries.

Nobody will remember their cupcake schedule and winning a second title vs TCU. (Facepalm - T C U !?!)

Nope... there will just be champs written in the history book for that season. F that.

Explain to me how a one loss Bama SEC champ, and winner of the head to head game vs georgia would step aside and let georgia go to the dance. How could anyone seriously make that argument with a straight face.

Its not as if Bama wasnt denied a chance to 3peat after losing a real rivalry game against an actual good football team in the last second on a voodoo return fg after winning 30 games in a row back to back titles and clearly having the best football team in the country.

SECCG is first round of playoffs. Win or go the frick home

And their [CFP] reasoning will become more bizarre.

It is about to become the B1G and SEC show (w/ Notre Dame of course lol). Sure, They'll allow a spot for UCF or FBS program every once in a while... but I can guarantee we'll be watching weird rankings to accommodate the jockeying needed for seeding of position round opponents.

Agree. I will be absolutely disgusted with college football Bama beats a juggernaut Georgia and doesn’t go to the playoffs given their strength of schedule and record.
