And considering there were no national titles and only two SEC titles between the Herschel Walker era and the Kirby Smart era, I don’t know how many big time programs were breaking the bank for UGA coaches.
Until Kirby’s very recent success, UGA has been an underachieving program. Maybe all the players and coaches have been too distracted by all the amazing things in Athens to focus on football.

Kirby was the running backs coach for UGA in 2005.
He got a promotion to coach for the Miami Dolphins.
No Georgia fan is asserting that UGA coaches are sandbagging careers and promotions just to live in Athens.
