In the NFL it's all about understanding where your money is going to be effective. Teams get advantages by realizing they can skate by with mediocre players at certain positions like RB, sometimes CB.

Sometimes you can even win by paying less at the most important position, QB, because the top guys end up being paid even more than their value.

There's not one answer here, but I would really like a coach who's putting a lot of analysis into these types of questions. Sam is coming off as "Welp we didn't have enough money to fill out the roster properly, nothing I can do about that"
