I loved those games. Maybe you're just not nostalgic. I watched some really great games covered by JP over the years and it was a time when those games typically would not have even been televised. They opened the door to the smaller matchups or the ones where the ending was supposed to be lopsided... only to end up watching a classic right before your eyes.

I honestly think that the JP era of televised games really did a lot to grow college football into the empire that it has become. TV executives started paying attention and then shelled out massive amounts of cash for the product.
