Griffen was an unexpected hit, but far from irreplaceable.

He was only unexpected for your average fan. Apparently there'd been very quiet rumors he was going to leave, back around mid season. I've seen a couple people on boards say it, as well as Jordan Harper saying it on Twitter.

Guy wanted to leave, and we've found multiple replacements absurdly quick. It's a dead issue at this point, imo.

I followed his mom on twitter and about a week ago she started retweeting stuff like “know your worth” and “its time to claim your blessing” and I was like yeah they’re about to go bag chasing.

At the end of the regular season, I would have expected it, probably even predicted it knowing he needed to be convinced to come back for this year. But the way he spoke during and after the tournament run about his coach and team and about how the next goal was a championship; those aren't things typically said by someone about to enter the portal. An extreme level of success has a tendency to change things, so my assumption was that it had. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.
