In the last 25+ years only once has a team won the SEC regular season in back to back years (Florida in 2013 and 2014). It's not easy to do. The fact that Bama lost 3 assistant coaches, 2 NBA 1st rounders, and brought in more new players than ever before and had a chance to win the SEC in March is something. I think we all expected a bit of a dropoff after being the #1 seed, but for a while there we looked to once again win the SEC.

Got to constantly remind myself even though the last few weeks have been disappointing that this team probably reached their potential regardless.

Exactly. Basketball is so hard to win consistently and then you add the transfer portal and nil.
