That’s not because of talent that fcs school keep it within a touchdown of us that’s coaching.
And in the case of the Arkansas football program just taking the 2023 season we were 9th out of the 14 in the rank of our recruiting class. We will most likely never be in the top tier. And even with a great coach that “coaching up” only gets you so far even if your confidence level is #1 in the SEC.

Arkansas hasn't had any "coaching up" since Petrino.
Arkansas not only losses to teams with similar talent but inferior talent as well.
1992 Citadel, Memphis State and SMU.
1993 Memphis State.
1994 Memphis State.
1995 SMU.
1996 SMU.
1997 SMU.
Those losses stopped with decent to good coaching under Nutt and Petrino.
It began again first with John L. Smith.

2018 Colorado State and North Texas.
2019 San Jose State and Western Kentucky.
2022 Liberty.
