This isn’t “recency bias”. Jace McClellan has definitely lost a step due to

his knee injury, but that guy is a damn good football player. He understands the offense better than most of his teammates when he’s on the field.
He’s not the greatest in pass protection, but it’s not due to a lack of effort there either.

He has no burst and he can’t read his blocks.
Jam Miller and Justice Haynes are our best choices going forward but Saban doesn’t wanna play them for some reason

I believe it's been said that neither Haynes or Miller pass protect very well and if so, that's a big reason why they're playing more. I agree though that in terms of running the ball, they bring more explosiveness.
CNS is normally ferociously loyal to upperclassmen, so Miller and Haynes will most likely have to wait until next year to shine.

What games are y'all watching?
Dude is literally breaking tackles left and right before he even can get going.
He has plenty of burst and speed...it showed yesterday smh.

Had a long TD vs Tejas last year.

Come on, man. I like Jase. He runs hard and gives it his all but it's pretty apparent he's lost a step and can't juke anyone. He's fine running straight ahead and but has little to no shiftiness.
He's a tough runner and does a great job driving his legs to get every single yard after getting stacked up but shifty, he is not.

Doesn’t have nearly the burst of Miller but there’s way more to the position than speed.

He's always been that type of runner. Go back and watch highlights.
Jace McClellan is very fast and powerful. Don't be fooled.
Justice Haynes is the only running back with great vision and shiftiness.

Disagree Joka. Go watch back 2 years ago before he blew out his knee. He was EXPLOSIVE.

Picked up 100 yard’s yesterday, but I agree I don’t think he’s our best option going forward. At the very least, I’d like to see 26,22 pick up a few more carries a game. People forget about Richard Young. He might be our most explosive back on the roster but we’ve seen him like once

Jase is currently the best RB for both run to set up the pass and pass to set up the run. He is the best (but not great at pass blocking. He is decent at pressing the hole but not great beasue his in-the-hole cuts are not quick jump cuts. He does slide pretty well after intial contact. He is good for tough yards. He does not really have game breaker speed or quickness.
Jam is far better at pressing the hole and has better burst after a quick cut in the hole. He need much more film study to see his pass block errors and how to fix them.
Haynes looks to have the best potential but needs another offseason to learn pass blocking and press the hole skills.
Young needs a full offseason to put on enough muscle to not get tossed like a rag doll. If they were to play him now, the edge is the only place he should be running.
