^^Because these are all self-imposed injures. If a guy get his teeth knocked right out, it’s kinda on him for hanging his MP on his face mask.

Targeting (while confusing as hell), is imposed by another player.

Then why do I constantly hear announcers overselling the "targeting is as much to protect the tackler as the ballcarrier" point?

A QB dropping his helmet into an incoming diving linebacker is also self-imposed.
