This thread on the AUFamily free board breaks down recruiting numbers and starters by class. The first post is eye-opening, but it's the graphs in about the 6th or 7th post down that really drive our grim situation home. LINK

The Harsin years were really bad, but I dont think we are that far off. Two or three years away depending on if Freeze can keep the support of the fanbase and administration.

Wow! That's sad what prior coaches did to this program. Maybe if Auburn can get donors, directors, coaches on the same page for once it could have some success. Maybe freeze will be the start of that

That’s exactly why mediocre Gus and terrible Haskins are gone. Freeze has to have time to turn chicken shite into chicken salad.

They gotta stay the course. Freeze needs to tune Montgomery up though. Ron Roberts hasn’t let lack of talent stop him from fielding a competent defense.

I agree it’s gonna take some time to get this program back up to speed.

That doesn’t excuse the fact that these coaches on offense (excluding Caddy) have “coached” their players to a point that they don’t seem to know shite from Shinola.

It’s OK to get beat because you are out-talented.

There’s no excuse when you get beat because the players you are being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to coach (i.e. on offense) are clueless.

Defense is playing great. Hoping the injuries don't kill that. Agree with tuning the offense. Gotta play to the guys strengths. The run and passes to the backs worked well today. Just anything beyond 5-10 yards from scrimmage was a gamble

Quick slants and crossing routes were just for UMass in game one I guess.

I haven't read it yet but I know it's gonna say our crootin has been near bottom of SEC. I mean Harsin had us ranked below Vandy at one point. (Worst recruiter in AU history). And Gus let it slip pretty bad his last couple years.

However, I did hear Freeze say other day something about how hard it is to find Olineman. Apparently there's very few really good ones and every D1 program is chasing the same few guys every year.

I guess HS players don't put much of a premium on playing line anyone since HS football has basically become 7 on 7. So if you do croot them, you have to pretty much start from scratch and teach them football all over again. In fact I heard some of our linemen tell the War Rapport guys that in their fireside chat other day.

That seems to be the thorn in the side of auburn football. Player development. We have 2-3 qb gurus on staff and they make a career 6k passer look like a 1st game freshman.

Its such a hard position to judge. Bama has two 5 star tackles that are not living up to their rankings. Very hard to recruit good ones.

Remember when you said our 2013 team was just as bad as this year and Hugh will build faster because of the portal, you stupid arse.

Having the portal does make it easier to rebuild a program dipshit. Not sure why you are trying to dispute that

You CANNOT ignore that you also said our 2013 team was just as bad as this team. Nice try

still think hoping for 8-5 for Freeze's first season is battered woman syndrome?

Are we still competing for the West????

2023 has a better defense than 2013

Add Nick Marshall to this years team and we are undefeated.

Nick Marshall never went undefeated on superior teams, troll.

Who would block for Nick Marshall this year?
