Following a successful season that saw Tennessee reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in five years, coach Rick Barnes has agreed to a contract extension with the Volunteers.

Good call. He's been good there. I'm happy that he's seen success there and been embraced by the fanbase like he has.

Wished he left Texas on better terms, but we had an a-hole for an AD at the time named Steve Patterson

Basketball threads this time of year are depressing and make me realize that cold shitty weather and no football is right around the corner.

He needed to go. It was a win/win

How so?
Texas under Barnes- missed NCAA 1 time in 17 years.
Texas without Barnes- had missed the NCAA tournament 3 times since 2016

UT under Barnes- Dating to the start of the 2017-18 season, Tennessee leads all SEC programs in total wins with 144.

Texas liked Barnes, still do. He was good for our program. He won a lot of games, recruited well, and got us into the tourney nearly every year, and ran a clean program…he just couldn’t get us deep into the tourney….there were no hard feelings, but Horns needed a change.

Nicholas, you have zero self-awareness.

Let’s leave men’s hoops trolls to others.
