Daughter at ATM, have hired and worked with many Aggies and 'Horns over the decades, in addition to being a 2x Texas ex myself. Wife also went to both. My take:

ATM is the better undergrad school and experience.

UT is the better research institution. More elite profs, more $$. Poster above stating UT facilities are old/landlocked is uninformed. There is a very large R&D center owned by the school in N Austin, and the university has done well in updating on-campus buildings and building new ones.

When I was there, about half the UT student pop was in grad school or professional (law, grad accounting, etc) schools.

FYI to both UT and ATM - AU and bammer alums/fans chuckle daily at your supposed rivalry. You look more like snippy siblings to those of us who understand real hate and contempt.

This explanation makes sense - UTex is better regarded for the graduate schools.

J. J. Pickle facility is known for keeping their stuff under wraps pretty good. Lot of direct military (Navy esp) applications from their research.

I don’t have any hate for Ags. Had and likely will have more immediate family attend. It’s a great education.

BTW, the IB rivalry seems to have cooled quite a bit too.

I enjoy making fun of A&M but don’t hate them. I had many high school classmates that went there. Considered going myself, but visited Austin first and that was the end of the story. Both are great schools and I’d be proud to see my kids at either.
