Not exactly. Sort of. But not exactly. The issue for Jimbo was investment in the program. Yes, he left for money. But he went to A&M because of the huge investment A&M has made in facilities and resources for athletes and of course money.

He tried to get the same at FSU. They denied him. Many times. So money was a factor but I honestly don’t think he would have been at A&M if we just paid him a check and didn’t have enormous investment in football in general.

Jimbo leaving FSU was probably a good thing as it spurred them to invest and ultimately break ground on a massive football facility.

If you’re not treating 18-22 year olds like Egyptian kings and continuously pushing the envelope you’re not getting the recruits. It just took a while for FSU to realize they had fallen behind.
