Excellent summary per TheTideMustRoll:
quote:
1. Stidham8 starts a thread saying that Alabama's recruiting is lagging and nowhere close to the #1 class this year, and that Bama cannot compete in the new world of NIL.quote:
2. Several pages go by in which multiple Bama posters say, "This happens every year, just wait and see," while multiple retards (OP, Rhino5, WT21) chime in to predict the end of the Bama dynasty.
3. It gets pointed out that Auburn's class is even worse than Bama's.
4. Somewhere around page 10 noted internet prognosticator and college football insider Irons Puppet arrives to start bloviating about how Auburn doesn't need great recruiting classes to beat Alabama. It is pointed out to him that he is crowing about a losing record to Bama during Saban's tenure, and that Auburn subsequently fired the man responsible for most of the victories the Tigers did manage to eke out. These facts do not appear to faze Mr. Puppets.
5. Somehow the subject of USC 2004 comes up. Irons Puppet makes the claim that the difference between vacated games and forfeited games is that the term "vacated" is used when a school agrees to stop claiming wins, while "forfeit" means the NCAA forced them to do it. Everyone is astounded by just how wrong he is, but he continues to insist he is right. From about page 15 to page 22 or 23 esteemed poster Tuscaloosa literally cuts and pastes the NCAA guidelines explaining what the terms "vacated" and "forfeited" actually mean, but Mr. Puppets sticks to his guns no matter how clearly and completely wrong he may be. Eventually he claims that he is right because the real rules are unwritten and tacitly understood, or some damn thing. He also claims college football is not a sanctioned sport by the NCAA. It's really an astonishing sequence and if you have time you should at least read those pages.
6. Finally Irons stops responding. About this time Alabama begins reeling in top prospect after top prospect, rapidly rising to have the, that's right, #1 class in the nation. There is much laughter at the OP's awesome prediction skills.
7. OP reveals his inner bitchness by editing the thread title and first post, which may be the most extreme example of "too little too late" any of us will ever see.
Seriously, if you have time, the entire thread is comedy gold. You should read it.

quote:IronsPuppet would swear that NIL would absolutely kill the Saban regime with the swiftness. That Saban couldn't compete when NIL "leveled the playing field" and he'd retire in frustration within 2 yrs.
I remeber this thread from last year. Can’t remeber the poster but it was an epic months long crow eating thread where the OP proclaimed Saban was finished because Bama’s recruting class in the summer was ranked 20th or some shite and of course it ended up at the top as usual. It wasnt Iron Puppets was it? Somebody like him anyway.
Puppet was a permanent fixture here for years, he filled the hole old Rabern left when he disappeared.

Why? If he is worthy of that high rating, then why didn't Alabama and Auburn not want him that bad?
Is this really that hard to figure out?
quote:
They key is if two highly SEC from their State didn't really try hard to get him then the recruit shouldn't be rank that high in the first place.
What's your point with this? That Bama and Auburn have coaching staffs that are better at evaluating talent than recruiting services? That's pretty groundbreaking

wow ! #1 is from my HS. Now that NIL has blown everything up and need to pay him to come to LSU.

His days might be ending soon, but it has nothing to do with recruiting highly ranked players. He currently has nine more 5 star and 4 star players than his nearest competitor who has won the last two national titles. More glaringly, he has TWENTY-TWO more of those players than the 3rd more talented SEC team (A&M). The talent gap between Bama and the rest of the country is still amazingly wide.

You bet. That talent was there last year too by the way. It will be interesting to see if the new coordinators make a difference this year. I think it will take another year to get rid of the cancer that was BoB and break in the new ones and a new QB. Still see you guys with 1 loss tops in the regular season.

These are 2024 commits.... not signed! This will change before December signing for sure.

Going back and browsing through, that thread should be considered a porn bomb considering how hard the OP and Iron Puppet got gangbanged on every single page. Good god, what a massacre.

He is great in the homes of the 18 year olds.
Recruiting is one component, even Joe Pa recruited well as a monarch.
It’s the Nil money. Saban did well when he could sell players that their only hope was to win a natty to get paid. That is not the case anymore. They get paid regardless, thus making it like the nfl and we know how Saban did there

Not really. They were very average on OL and the front 7 on D.

So how do you explain this ?

I just explained it…having 5 stars isn’t enough. Saban’s coaching style is to instill fear that if you don’t work hard and win Nattys with him, then no nfl and no money.
Money is a non factor making his approach diluted and why you see less dominate teams.
No coincidence that since NIL the drop off feels real and different from the one rogue season in 2013

If his approach is diluted then how did he sign what some called the GOAT recruiting class last year ?
