Dunno. Why do people give Kirby and Pruitt credit for Bama's defense during their tenure?

In fairness, Alabama posters insist that Kirby was not the key.....so, I guess we are back to the original question?

I’ve always attributed the defenses and the credit of how good they are to the coordinator.

I liked Pruitt better because with Kirby it seemed like at times we just wanted to choke the life out of people instead of beat their arse and it ended up costing us in shootouts. Jeremy Pruitts more attacking defensive style and recruiting kinda reminded me of LSU’s style of ball where there seem to be a lot of ball hawks in the back end and the defensive linemen are a lot more cerebral to the shifty QBs.

He was not THE key, but he was A key. We have won a further two national championships and have made another three appearances in the CFP National Championship Game since he departed in early 2016.

The key is and always will be Nick Saban. However, he is a human being and therefore is prone to making mistakes. Pete Golding was a mistake.
