BV has 0 NCs as a head coach, which is relevant here.

Well he's never been a head coach, genius. That's "relevant here" too....

Riley is arguably the best offensive coach in the game, Venables is not the best defensive coach, and I don’t think anyone would even consider this to be the case since his peak years at Clemson.

Kiffin is the best offensive mind in the game. Riley's offense has never done shite against a top 5 team.

Venables was widely considered the top DC in the nation at Clemson for many years.

What about BV makes you think he’s going to have top 4 teams nationally while competing in the SEC? Certainly not his first season. Not looking like this year is going to meet OU’s standards either. 2024 and all of a sudden your biggest competition isn’t dick tripping Texas anymore…

Kirby Smart's first season was a lot like Venable's. Bob's wasn't much better when he arrived in '99 and he had never been a HC either.

Guess we should just pack it in and dissolve the program because you have unfounded doubts about our coach that aren't based on anything substantive.

You have unfounded hope based on nothing substantive. Comparing to Kirby is a waste of time, he’s not as good of a coach as Kirby and the state of Oklahoma doesn’t produce the talent Georgia does.

BV was considered one of the best DCs in the nation, 5+ years ago. That’s great. Notice that the shine started to wear off of the whole Clemson operation the last few years?

I doubt that many share your opinion on Kiffin > Riley, doesn’t really matter though, one coaches at a school with 0 shot of winning their conference and the other coaches at a blue blood.

Bottom line, what’s the most realistic outcome:

- BV is the second coming of Saban & Kirby, wins multiple championships in the toughest conference

-BV is a tier below but fields a consistent top 5 team, winning around 80%+ of his games.

-something worse than the two above?

Basically you’re banking on BV being an all time great coach, in one of scenarios 1 or 2 above. Most coaching hires aren’t that, we will see if OU can defy the odds and essentially make 3 excellent hires in a row (with the caveat that those last two excellent hires weren’t meeting OU’s standards for the last 15 years or so)

You think pointing out one guy was handed the reins of a top 5 team after approximately 7 years as an OC, with only 3 in Power 5 conference and one was a career assistant for 25 years helps your position?

Some people will argue Kiffin is better. Not the majority, but some. Venables was great at Clemson, but Saban is by default the better defensive coach, just with a nicer title than DC. Same with Gary Patterson. Same with Kirby. Brent is behind those guys and Gary isn’t even really in the game.

Comparing the shite team that Brent put on the field in any way to what Bob did in his first year is one of the least informed statements I’ve seen about OU football.
