He's not wrong. Frankly this is going to take a toll on college athletes, most of whom either aren't getting any NIL or are getting "work at a fast food joint" level NIL.
I mean we look at the football and basketball stars that raking in big bucks and sure, for that much money they can travel. But if you are a volleyball player who is actually trying to get your degree (because the pro volleyball leagues aren't exactly thriving) this is going to add a lot of stress.
Traveling from the East Coast to the Midwest is a pain, but doable. Traveling from Washington to New Jersey is a different beat altogether.
My suspicion is that sure, the big football TV contracts will subsidize a lot (for now) of expenses. But the travel expenses is going to eat a lot of that money up. Unless you only travel for football and basketball. In which case you've got the PAC-12 refugees playing in a defacto 7 team conference.
