They are the destroyers of conferences

Aggy and SMU killed the SWC. The Big12 is going to continue on after we leave. There's only one conference killer in here buddy, and it ain't Texas.

I was in TX during the Pony Express days, I beg to differ.

The B1G started this when they wanted Notre Dame and Utx in the first place to offset the strength of the CFA. Only major schools not to cross the pickett line were in the B1G and PAC. Notre Dame and Utx said no, so they got Penn State and sat at 11 for years, but the dominoes started to drop.

Utx could never lure LSU and Ole Miss to the SWC after they left the SIAA / SoCon group. Hard to have an unequal conference with only 1 non TX school in the fold, it was asking for disaster. The SIAA did fold so you could count that as Utx kill #1.

If the SWC had acted sooner (B1G went first with Penn State but would not let them officially join for another 3 years) and been forward thinking, you keep the Big 8 and add 4 SWC schools (Utx, TAMU, TCU, and Arkansas) and you would probably have the #2 conference in the US right now. SWC folded so count that as Utx kill #2.

NCAA HQ was in Kansas (B12 country) and B12 center made perfect sense in addition to easy access to the NCAA. Instead Utx wanted everything in TX and bullied to make it happen. B12 moved to TX and NCAA moved to Indiana (B1G footprint). In 2009 the "Blair Report" leaks and the B1G poaches Nebraska while PAC poaches Colorado. B12 goes from #2 conference to being on life support and soon to be a G5 conference. Utx kills #3.

Prove me wrong.

TL : DR Summary - B1G killed the SWC, Big 8, and B12. They just used Utx being the narcissist to accomplish this, and Utx was to blind to not see they got played.
