What was the most illogical betting line in a College Football game that you recall?

I would go with 2014 Oregon being favored by 6 over Ohio State in the title game.

Ohio State beat Wisconsin 59-0 in Big10 title with Zeke running for over 200 yards.

Then beat #1 Bama with Zeke running for over 200 yards.

How in the world anyone thought that an undersized defense from a finesse conference was going to stop Zeke/OSU is beyond me.

That was some easy money.

Interesting topic

Georgia being favored over Bama in 15 comes to mind. Bama hadn’t been underdogs in a long arse time and it was a big deal that UGA was favored. Bama destroyed them, it was 38-3 until a last second garbage TD.

I don't gamble much, but I remember UGA being only a 7 point favorite v Michigan. Probably the easiest money I've ever made.

I’m pretty sure Wisconsin was favored in that game too. Yikes

Vegas doesn’t believe in Iron Bowl Jordan Hare voodoo. So every time they think Bama is gonna go in and dominate is a good example

Well Oregon had just beaten FSU by 40 and had the Heisman winning QB on their side so that probably had a lot to do with it. I don't think it deserves to be on a list of illogical betting lines let alone on top of one.

Well the last game of the year last year. UGA -9.5 or whatever it was vs TCU.

The two biggest bets I have ever placed on college football games:

2018: Oklahoma -21 vs FAU

2021: Georgia -23.5 vs UAB

OU getting that gift of a number just because Kiffin was FAU's coach was unreal. They won 63-14 and had a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Georgia was coming off of the 10-3 season opening win against Clemson as an underdog and was somehow only getting 23.5 against UAB. This was also a gift, as Georgia won 56-7 and had a 35-0 lead at halftime.

Auburn football in 2012 was 0-6 in the SEC and Chizik was basically fired. We were starting a converted WR at QB (Johnathan Wallace) and were facing Georgia who was looking to clinch the East. The line was Georgia -16.

I made the biggest bet of my life $1000 on Georgia and they won 38 to Zero.

The next week, Auburn faced bammer with a line of bammer -34.

I let the $1000 ride and won again as Auburn lost 49-0.

I knew my team had quit.

Honestly, 2011 LSU vs Oregon.
I was stoned and drunk that year, but bet my entire bank acct, which was like $3k, on LSU. Didn’t sweat much in the second half while attending the game. Bought my parents tickets based on us covering. Oregon was -3.

I’m sure the buckeyes were favored big over Florida in 2007, even though everyone knew the SEC was the best conference and the big 10 was down. ND/ bama championship was only 10 points I believe, no serious fan was thinking it’d be that close

recently it was Bama -13.5 @ LSU last year.

That was a great night for yours truly.

Whenever a non ranked team is a 6 pt favorite over a top 10 team. The unranked team usually covers.

I don't know about the one I've bet, but I'd like to personally say I really appreciate Stanford winning outright against USC despite being 41 point dogs in 2007.

Leicester City to win the EPL has to be up there on someone's list here though.

Lsu was -6 on the opener for the Texas bowl vs Texas tech. With Leonard fournette vs the worst run d in the entire country

That’s my favourite bet really. A team that ground and pounds and doesn’t have to go outside the playbook when they are up. Vs a team that can’t stop the run

LSU Arkansas last year, O/U 60.5. I fat fingered an over bet, should have hurriedly doubled up on an under bet to recoup my losses

The 2019 LSU team total vs Oklahoma. I don’t remember exactly what it was but I think like 32.5 but less than 35 and it made no sense to me. I thought LSU would score 40+ easily vs that defense. I ended up putting $200 on it and wish I had done more

Not college football but O/U in LSU/UF game 2 and 3 was something like 9.5 with the wind howling out both days. Easy, easy money. Both games went over by like the 3rd inning.

Maybe not the most illogical, but the 2 bets I've ever felt most comfortable placing were Patriots v Rams Super Bowl and LSU vs. OU in the 2019 playoffs.

That LSU/OU line could've been -56 and I probably would've bet it. OU had lost that game as soon as LSU stepped off the bus.

Stanford being 41-point dogs against USC.

It was a P5, Pac10 school, not the Citadel or Louisiana-Monroe.

And Carroll rarely ran up scores against Conference foes like Tom Osborne. If bettors actually watched USC play, they'd know the starting QB was often taken out at halftime if the lead got to 30 points.

Stanford opened the season losing to #14 UCLA, 41-17..and then lost to #13 Oregon 55-31. Both 24 point spreads.

Whoever took that Vegas bet was an idiot. You don't lay that many points on a Conference foe...

That was a directional school point spread, inflated by Vegas because too much money was blindly being put on USC by casual fans on holiday...so Vegas was pushing the point spreads to extremes when USC played to get action opposite.

USC was the most bet on CFB team in Vegas for about 10 years according to Vegas Insider and traditionally is one of the most routinely bet on even if they're average because household name to average casual bettor on holiday in Vegas.
