Not trying to introduce politics, but Bucky getting the Medal of Freedom is pretty freaking cool. It’s awesome seeing him finally getting that big game monkey off his back and being recognized for it.

It’s bittersweet. I think most Avs faithful have known it’s coming due to his contract, but Sammy G was one of the cornerstones to the rebuild and turnaround. Injuries really prevented him from reaching his potential. By all accounts a wonderful person and great locker room guy.

Tells me we shed his contract with something big in the works
If you look at the entirety of what he said, it wasn’t whining. It was essentially saying “you can decide who was better. They won, we didn’t.”

It sure as shite ain’t the whining Cooper had in the postgame presser
Can speak to the playoff series against COL two years ago, as I was there for both games in Denver.

While there’s no doubt Bucky didn’t stand on his head like normal, that blue line also failed him miserably.

It ain’t always on the G.

Now maybe the men can get there and pull the upset???

Don't sleep on Finland. I'd be shocked to see Slovakia beat us tomorrow, but I wouldn't be horribly surprised to see Finland get by Canada.

Depends on what version of Saros shows up.

EDIT: US would be decent favorites over Finland.
If the men can follow suit and win gold (particularly against Canada), the hockey fandom surge is going to be unreal. It's been fun to see the momentum of late, particularly after 4 Nations, but this thing could go kaboom.
Of course this has just been the messaging of the year, and only matters if it lasts through June, every Avalanche player in the Olympics has a goal. Avs keep on keepin’ on the ice

Well, he's a goalie, so yeah!

Have yourself a day, Brock Nelson! Avalanche players are showing out so far in Milan.

Jay Johnson shouldn’t retire until he has beaten the GOAT and brings home 6 titles.

I don’t know, at this rate he’d only be 56. Id imagine he’ll have a decade more in him at least.
“Drew Brees didn’t just play here. He changed what here meant.” :wah:

Friend of mine from the USMC handled a dog that won Best of Opposite Sex yesterday. I don’t know much about dog shows, but seems pretty cool.
As much as I fricking hate them, and the rule, it’s been a point of emphasis. He got a warning, and kept going.

Consistent call for the year so far.

Now I hope the Seahawks go score 21 unanswered.

Huge bounce back by Blackwood. Made several saves that prevented any momentum building by Toronto.

Wedgewood is expected to be back this week, and I’m glad we are at a spot where he (and Toews) will get time with family after newborns without any concern about where we are in the standings.

Beautiful thing right now about the injury bug is that we keep finding forwards that can play in our systems effectively at this level.

Get to the break 80+ points, get healthy/have no bad luck in the Olympics, and go get home ice advantage locked up early.

The Avs fans have been a huge part of this year’s thread for that very reason. Obviously the record is insane, but I really think the most fun that this team is significantly deeper than 2022.

Even when we’re banged up and playing our AHLers, they’re scoring threats at this level. The Avs legitimately have 7-8 forwards between the AHL/NHL that can play the 4th line for us effectively, and then Bednar can move our top three lines around as he sees fit. Really the only guarantee is 29 is your 1C, but even Necas has played up and down all the way to the third line.

It’s quite a fun brand of hockey, particularly with how fast the Avs are.

Avs may be limping to the Olympic break, but hopefully this is us getting our injury bug at the right time.

Earning some big time separation from Dallas/Minnesota

Huge positive news on the injury front for the Avs, finally. Blackwood activated off IR.

Oh well, down to earth.

Really need Blacky back. Obviously, Wedgewood (FORGIVE ME, I HAVEN'T SLEPT IN TWO DAYS) has been lights out all season, but it's clear we don't trust Miner to spell him even on a road stretch like this.

It'll be nice to get back to our barn for a couple of weeks and hopefully get healthy. We're definitely missing Blacky (oopsies, put Wedgie first), Taser and Cap.

Also, thank you Dallas for deciding to give us some space in the standings as we go home for seven games battered and bruised from this trip.

Oh no. Landeskog had to be helped off the ice- slid into a crossbar lower rib/ kidney area. Pretty brutal.

Definitely didn't look good at all, but sounds like the worst outcomes were avoided with him not being ruled out for the Olympics at this point.
He and Toews are clearly missed right now, but such is hockey and we've been crazy lucky with injuries this year.

Would be awesome to get 2 points out of this one and come back 4/6 on the road trip. This one could have some fireworks this final 20 (and maybe +5)
