C'mon dude. They have 3 of the highest paid guys in college baseball. What's gonna kill LSU football is what they are throwing at baseball. It's the world we live in now.

Touchdown Tony: Believe it or not there is a core subset of Business Leaders and alums in Baton Rouge and New Orleans that are Baseball people. That is they are individuals that put money to LSU baseball for NIL. Now does that mean they don't support LSU in other areas, no, but the money going to LSU baseball would likely not automatically go to say LSU football or basketball, etc.

HS baseball in LA, before the travel ball era, was highly competitive, in particular the Catholic league in New Orleans and the private Religious Schools in Baton Rouge (Catholic HS, Parkview Baptist) and other areas across the state. Baseball at the HS level has always been a very popular sport, or at least it use to be again before the travel ball era that we are in now, which has probably hurt HS baseball to some degree I think. It definitely has reduced the amount of HS guys that use to be 2 sport athletes with respect to playing baseball and football.

I think baseball really took off at LSU starting in the 1980's and then in the 1990's right around the first MLB steroid disclosures started becoming public and LSU started winning CWS. Lots of hardcore MLB fans who were casual LSU baseball fans sort of turning in to LSU baseball and it has been a mini version of Tiger Stadium at the Box for SEC weekend baseball series ever since.
