There are only a few marquee programs left for the B1G or the SEC to absorb that are likely to drive enough viewers to increase payout per school: Clemson, FSU, Notre Dame, and Oregon. And if we’re being a bit generous, Washington and Miami.

I think this is a misstatement.

There is only ONE marquee program left... Notre Dame.

The rest aren't.

This is why I think the only future expansion will likely be if ND joins the Big 10. And that will only involve a single other team to be paired with ND... and it could very well be Stanford.

After that it's not about marquee names because there are none. It will be about markets if anyone does. My bet is the SEC is done expanding for the next 20-30 years.

FSU is clearly a marquee program, and the only reason the Noles haven't been even better is because the ACC massively sucks. Despite being in the lowest paying conference in the P5, FSU clocked in at 15th nationally in athletic revenue last year. The Noles have won three national championships since 1993, 18 ACC titles since 1992, sit in one of the largest and fastest growing states in the country, and in the heart of one of the best recruiting hotbeds. The only eyebrow raising stat about FSU is their relatively weak attendance. I chalk that up to spoiled fans who are so used to winning that they aren't showing out for a bad to mediocre team the past few seasons.

Clemson and Oregon, I suppose it depends on your definition of marquee and how many schools that includes. Regardless, they are both desirable programs. I do think Clemson could quickly lose a lot of luster if its football program regresses - it doesn't have a whole lot else going on, especially since the SEC already has a flagship South Carolina program.
