Huntsville Alabama got man to the moon and back. There is a reason why Huntsville also is the top choice for the new Space Command.

Well . . . .I think it was actually NASA which was utilizing some of the best scientific minds from all over the country and beyond including some former Nazis. Lets not give all that credit to the locals.

And the Marshall center was just one team along with a very large group of folks in Houston.

Well you see I was there, and saw. While many of you try and diminish why Huntsville was picked. It was due to the local talent. The "large group from Houston" never happened. The only thing Houston got, because of Johnson wanting Texas to be included, was "mission control" (a taxi dispatch service)

Huntsville was a clearing house and had final say on everything about the Apollo missions. While several things were built elsewhere, they had to have approval from Huntsville.
