Per a tweet yesterday, Yurachek has started the process on renovation to The Bud which would be done by 2026 season I beleive(May have been 2025).

What are your “must update” parts of Bud Walton?

1. Update Concourses
2. Update and reconstruct main entrance
3. Update and renovate Hall of Champions
4. Update restrooms
5. Update seats throughout
6. Update suites

My biggest issue would probably be adding more suites which then takes away from the current capacity. Season tickets are sold out now which means the people getting pushed out are those that likely sit in the cheaper seats in the upper deck. I hate losing the regular fan while adding corporate suites. This also worries me on losing what The Bud is known for, the atmosphere.

Thoughts?

Probably only looking at losing 2500 to 3k of the upper deck seats. BWA does't sell out or fill out like it used to. Maybe only 1 or 2 games a year where it might.

Best quote on twitter

Hunter should have to piss with us commoners so he can see how bad the mens restrooms are.

I tend to agree. At the UK game every mens bathroom was a cluster.

Bathrooms, change up seating in the upper deck, move students, and increase the number of suites.

All season tickets have been sold the past 3 years? Which means tickets are only available on the secondary market.

Yea, forgot to add that. I’d like student section to fill entire bottom sections across from benches. Per SEC rules, student section cannot be behind benches.

From what they showed yesterday I was quite disappointed. Seemed like some new suites and expanded student section and that was about it. Hopefully more to the plans BWA needs a lot of love approaching 30 years. Feels like the atmosphere has also declined significantly with the arena outside of 1 or 2 games a year.

full breakdown here

quote:

The “yield rate” is only 70%, meaning the average actual attendance for those games is only 70%, he said. The season ticket renewal rate is roughly 90% currently, meaning that there shouldn’t be any season ticket holders for the current arena who want to renew who wouldn’t have seats in a renovated version.

quote:

Under this plan, the Razorback basketball teams would need to play home games away from Bud Walton Arena in November and December of 2025, he said.

quote:

Yurachek plans to present an architect and general contractor for approval by the trustees this summer, then — in January or March of 2024 — bring a recommendation with details of the potential renovation to the trustees for approval, he said. Under that timeline, work could begin on the arena in March 2025 with an “ideal” grand opening in November 2026, but “we’d have to be very fortunate to hit all these dates.”

Let me go on a rant…

Updated suites is fine and all, but some fans are going to get pushed out for the sake of almighty dollar because those who make $$$ feel they are too special or important and need to sit away from the commoners. Money is ruining sports.

I guarantee donation levels will rise with this too and you will end up having worse seats for more money. I’ll probably be watching from the couch so it seems.

Updated concourses, entrances, concessions, and bathrooms are most important to me. I feel like I am stuck in 1993 walking through the concourse, it’s also pretty dang ugly. If we are going to have urinals without shields then we might as well put the troughs back in so we speed up the process for everybody. Add TVs at urinals LOL. Make TVs through concourse bigger.

Although renovation needs to take place Bud isn’t going to be the same again.

I also think the store and gear promotion could be 10x better. The selection is sometimes wanting. Can we sell Jerseys with players names? Or past players? Or past players pro jerseys? Can we not advertise for certain items/sales, etc, during the game?… “During or after the game all white Razorback items will be 25% off for next weeks white out against…” “stop by the Razorback shop on your way out and receive 10% off on the polo shirt the coaching staff is wearing today” etc., etc. The stores throughout the concourse are definitely weak sauce.

Take the front facing hog off scoreboard. Actually take it off everything.

Are there no plans for a tunnel or sky walking bridge connecting to the basketball practice and operations facility? If they are not planning for either than that is a huge missed opportunity.

Slobber Hog. They really just don’t want to listen. We fans have voiced our opinion and desire for this far too long and pretty damn loudly. Just fricking do it already. Or at least think outside the box and maybe have a center logo that can change out and rotate between the standard hog, slobber hog, hog jumping through the A, etc.
The state outline is a little much and I don’t know a single person who thinks we should keep it. Let’s not copy cat Ole Miss. Keep it clean and simple. Less is sometimes more.

Also, who is selecting the songs for Muss’ mixtape? They blow, don’t pump anybody up, and are inappropriate half the time. Nobody wants to hear Cardi B or songs praising thug life. Give us choices all generations know and love. I heard a song the other day during a game talking about sucking dick. Children are in the damn stadium for love’s sake. Maybe have a little awareness. The speakers and music are way to loud before the game.

I think like 10/14 SEC teams have this now. It's awful.

BWA overbuilt women's restrooms and underbuilt men's. There is always a line at the men's room.

The crowd is always at least 60/40 men.

I’m really hoping we fix the student seating. The fact that they aren’t right up on the court except for one corner is a travesty. At least get them completely behind one goal for FTs.

How has no one mentioned putting slobbering hog back at main court? Without this the other renovations are meaningless
