Serious discussion with Nate Oats ... he's as good as anyone, right now, in Men's basketball.
But that's the thing. Basketball is not football. The athletes are fickle. It's hard to build a thing like Saban has done, in basketball. Because of the players that do the sport.
All that said ? Oats may have the right formula. Calhoun had the formula at UConn ... win or bust. He did plenty of both. Oats has a team, on the floor, that looks as good as anybody.
Let's see if he can sustain it.

Same for UCLA and AZ this season. I don't think there was a freshman on the court in the Pac12CG last night.

He did. Usually at least three or four guards. And at least one kid that could protect the rim. That was always the UConn secret sauce. It worked. Jim Calhoun was - in my humble opinion - as good as anyone in his era.
