Just want the schedule to be fair. If this setup is accurate, it isn't. Makes even less sense given the history between Bama and MSU and the proximity of the schools.
ETA: And to be fair, LSU is usually a layup win too. Y'all have beaten us 27 times, they've beaten us 18.
Those numbers are not exactly comparable. Bama/MSU has been played 107 times. LSU/Bama has been played 87 times. Doesn't take a High level mathematician to see a delta of 20 games.
The LSU/Bama series is 55-27-5 in favor of Alabama
The MSU/Bama series is 87-17-3 on the field (with vacated games it is 85-18-3) in favor of Alabama.
But lets just look at the games as played. Bama's winning % vs MSU is 81.3% while vs LSU it is 63.2%, so there is a difference there in the competition level in those 2 SEC "series" lets say rather than "rivalries."

The SEC is smart enough to know that the permanent rivals should be of a historic nature. Otherwise, if it was about the last 10 years, what in the world would Tennessee be doing on the list? The SEC also gets that it's about the balance of power in scheduling.
The Saban Bowl is when this LSU rivalry took off. Which makes it about as Johnny come lately as it gets.

I know the Rebs are going to keep the Egg Bowl, but I hope we keep LSU and Arkansas too.
