Didn't dv you but I will push back slightly. I was in handcuffs on a curb once for being a dumbass. I admitted my guilt, told them they had every right to take me to jail for the night, and I was let go after we all had a laugh at how big of a dumbass I was. The other people I was with who were silent, well they went to jail for the night and had to hire attorneys (dumb drunk college story... nothing cool )
I think in general it is a good idea to remain silent, but in my situation I felt like it would help me out more than playing that game. I've gotten out of a few hairy situations by just respecting their authority and not playing any games.
