basketball related questions only.

Blistering article on Bama Basketball.

I was told this story would be a non factor after this weekend by Bama fans.

quote:

Alabama: Clouds darken over Brandon Miller, Crimson Tide

Dark clouds over Alabama

quote:

About a year ago, with Duke legend Mike Krzyzewski about to ride off into the sunset, I wrote a column wondering who would become college basketball’s next great villain. Such a figure would need to combine arrogance with victory, infusing a talented team with an infuriating they-hate-us-’cause-they-ain’t-us attitude.? I didn’t mention Alabama and Nate Oats in that column, but the Crimson Tide and their head coach are now deep in serious villain territory, not the sports-talk Coach K version, barreling into the 2023 NCAA tournament with the wagons circled and the sports bar arguments ready to go. The heel turn of the 2023 Tide, one of the best teams in the country, would be a lot of fun if there weren’t a tragedy at the heart of it.

quote:

Alabama has had the opportunity for weeks now to sit Miller as punishment for his galactically bad judgment. Instead, it’s chosen to keep Miller on the team, in the lineup, at the top of the box score. The overall look here is that Alabama is doing all it can to protect its once-in-a-generation basketball run, whatever the short-term public relations cost.

quote:

Alabama has had the chance to change the narrative around Miller and the program as a whole, again and again, and opted not to do so. And now one of the best teams in the country is watching its reputation vaporize in real time.

WildcatMike leading the pack with 17 threads started on this subject.

Well done. I bet if you start a few more, Bama will definitely suspend him.

It's ludicrous to mention Coach K and Oats in the same paragraph. Did Coach K piss people off by winning? Yes. Did Duke pay a few guys along the way (like all programs do)? Yes. But Coach K was never criticized for having thugs on his team that I can recall.

it’s not the place of the Tide’s critics to step in and play judge, jury or district attorney. Bad decisions aren’t necessarily criminal ones, and second-guessing Tuscaloosa law enforcement without all the facts is both pointless and counterproductive.

Guess you just skimmed over this part.

I looked at your stats for yesterday, there's 20 posts per page on a posters history, so you posted more than 90 posts in one day yesterday

Mostly because they are only qualified to talk about the facts and know how serious the matter is.

They don't have the freedom and luxury of an ongoing food fight, like the SEC Rant.

Let me get this party started, FOOD FIGHT!!!!

If they suspended him it would be for doing something he shouldn't have. Which could only be intentionally delivering a gun to be used in a criminal act.

Which he would have been charged for and been arrested for and kicked off the team for.

What do you want him "suspended" for exactly?

Stet had too much to drink and banged on a few doors. Your BB thug brings the gun to a murder.
Gee. Hard to figure out which is worse. A murder or a bit too much celebration.

Did you read what followed that? Playing basketball is a privilege that gets taken away for a lot less.

To be honest, I'm jealous. We suspend guys over flights, a little extra cash, or barbeques. Soft stuff. Accessory to murder of a mom? That doesn't clear the bar for suspension at Bama.

Thanks for illustrating the complete irrelevance of your previous point.
